Easter Devotional Two

DAY TWO

Because of my death - He died. Because He’s alive - I live.

Daily Introduction:

Each day, begin by slowly declaring the truth below aloud. Let the words shape your heart before you move on. Sit with the statement and carry it as your declaration for the day. Then prayerfully read the Scripture passage. Read it more than once. Notice a word or phrase that stands out and linger there with the Lord. Finally, respond to Him through the reflection questions. Journal your honest responses. Invite the Holy Spirit to speak His heart and reveal where this truth meets your real life today.

Truth:

He took my shame and gave me His righteousness. I am justified.

Verse:

Romans 7:21-25, 8:1

“I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.”

Reflection:

Where do I feel the tension Paul describes—the desire to do right but the experience of failure, and how does Jesus help me overcome this sin nature?

What guilt or shame am I still holding onto that Jesus has already forgiven?

How does belonging to Christ change the way I see myself today?
